Main Metrics
Overview
Visibility Score measures the percentage of AI responses (chats) where your brand is mentioned. This metric indicates how frequently AI models recognize and reference your brand when discussing relevant topics across your tracked prompts.
Higher visibility means more AI models recognize and mention your brand when relevant topics are discussed, increasing your overall brand presence in AI-generated content.
How Visibility Score is Calculated
The visibility score is calculated as:
```text
Visibility Score = (Number of chats mentioning your brand / Total chats) × 100
```
Calculation Details
- Numerator: Count of distinct
chat_id values where your brand appears in the brand_mentions table
- Denominator: Total count of distinct
chat_id values in the selected time period
- Time Period: Calculated over the selected date range (default: last 7 days)
- Filters Applied: Project, date range, AI models, topics/prompts, and optionally brand domain
- Range: 0-100%
- Chart: Daily visibility percentage over time (line chart showing trends)
- Table: Aggregated visibility percentage for the selected period (shows overall performance)
Important Notes
- Visibility is calculated as “share of voice” among all chats, not normalized to 100% for tracked brands only
- Both “All Brands” and “Tracked Brands” views use the same calculation:
(brand mentions / total chats) × 100
- This represents your brand’s market presence in AI conversations
- Visibility can vary significantly by topic, prompt wording, and AI model
Brand Prompts vs Product Prompts
Orvi AI tracks visibility for two types of prompts:
Brand Prompts Visibility
- Measures how often your brand (or competitor brands) is mentioned when category-level prompts are executed
- Based on predefined brands you’ve added to your project (your brand + tracked competitors)
- Shows which brands AI models recommend when users ask about your industry or category
Product Prompts Visibility
- Measures how often products are mentioned when product-specific prompts are executed
- Products are discovered dynamically from AI responses (not predefined like brands)
- Shows which products AI models recommend when users ask product-related questions
- Calculated at the prompt level:
(Number of chats with product mentions / Total prompt executions) × 100
Both use the same calculation methodology, but track different entities (brands vs products).
Why Visibility Score Matters
Brand Recognition
Visibility score directly reflects:
- How well-known your brand is in your industry
- Whether AI models recognize your brand for relevant topics
- Your overall market presence and authority in AI-generated recommendations
Competitive Positioning
Higher visibility means:
- You’re more likely to be mentioned than competitors in AI responses
- Users are more likely to encounter your brand when asking AI for recommendations
- You have a competitive advantage in brand recognition and discovery
Strategic Insights
Visibility analysis helps you:
- Identify topics where you need more presence — low visibility in certain topics indicates content gaps
- Understand your brand’s market position — compare your visibility to competitors across different topics
- Track improvements over time — monitor visibility trends to see if your GEO strategy is working
- Optimize prompt strategy — see which prompts generate the most visibility for your brand
Understanding Your Visibility Data
In the Overview Dashboard
- Visibility Trends Chart: See how your brand’s visibility changes day-by-day compared to competitors
- Brand Table: Compare visibility percentages across all brands mentioned in your prompts
- Filtering: Use filters to analyze visibility by:
- AI Models (GPT-5, Claude, Gemini, Perplexity)
- Date Range (last 7/14/30/90 days or custom)
- Topics/Prompts (specific use cases or questions)
- Brands (focus on your brand or include competitors)
Interpreting Results
- 0% Visibility: Your brand is never mentioned in AI responses for your prompts
- Action: Review your prompts, content strategy, and source presence
- Low Visibility (<10%): Your brand is rarely mentioned
- Action: Focus on improving source authority and brand mentions in key publications
- Moderate Visibility (10-30%): Your brand appears regularly but not dominantly
- Action: Identify top-performing topics and expand similar content
- High Visibility (>30%): Your brand is frequently recommended
- Action: Maintain momentum, monitor competitors, and expand to new topics
Visibility works together with other GEO metrics to give you a complete picture:
Improving Your Visibility
To increase your visibility score:
- Optimize your prompts: Ensure prompts match how customers actually ask AI for recommendations
- Build source authority: Get mentioned and cited in high-authority publications that AI models trust
- Create category-defining content: Publish content that becomes a reference for your industry
- Monitor competitors: See which sources and topics drive visibility for competitors
- Track trends: Use visibility charts to identify what’s working and what’s declining
Remember: Visibility changes gradually as AI models update their training data and source preferences. Track trends over weeks and months, not just day-to-day fluctuations.Last modified on January 25, 2026
